“Believe you me: the eating was aplenty, and the drinks many. About this dinner, I noted two memorable things; there was not meat be it kid, be it capon, be it swine, be it pigeons, magpies, hares, turkey cocks or other that was not filled with a masterly stuffing; the other thing being that all the food and dessert was served by the marriageable and virginal maidens of the place, and all beautiful, I assure you, cuddly, blonde, sweet and of good temper. For the dessert, the supreme Roquefort, which is among the most supreme as the Sputnik of the statistical achievement in cheese maggots, its forte, as one can read in its name.” Excerpt from Les Diners de Gala (Gala’s Dinners), 1973, by Salvador Dalí.
