Hungary's 1100th Anniversary: An American Celebration
Apr 27, 1997 - Aug 31, 1997
Overview
In celebration of Hungary’s 1100 year, Peter Taczman and Reka Cobel, two Hungarian M.B.A. students studying at Niagara University, collaborated with the Castellani Art Museum and The Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest to create an exhibit commemorating the founding of the nation.
Contemporary art from young artists was provided by The Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Works were selected that showed the mingling of past and present in their techniques and themes. Guest folk arts curator Judith Krauza highlighted local expressions of traditional Hungarian folk arts through created works and loaned objects from members of the local Hungarian-American community in Western New York and the Finger Lakes.
