Camp CAM Themes
WEEK 1 (July 14-18)
"Out of the Box"- Step outside your comfort zone taking on “New Directions” in both art and theatre.
Campers will dive into a dynamic exploration of sculpture and theater, beginning by transforming everyday shipping materials into imaginative art pieces inspired by Ferraro's mailable sculptures, while learning about postal art history and designing their own artistic "special deliveries." Through interactive theater exercises and creative movement, campers will bring artwork to life - crafting immersive performances that playfully interpret the artistic process, staging miniature productions that explore cultural storytelling traditions, and creating their own inspired pieces that merge traditional techniques with contemporary expression.

WEEK 2 (July 21-25):
"Worlds of Wonder" -Journey through fantastical realms while creating art inspired by myths and imagination.
Campers will explore mythical realms through the enchanted lens of Jessica Gadra's fairy tale exhibition while learning traditional folk art techniques. In this immersive camp experience, participants will create their own magical artwork using both time-honored craft methods and contemporary approaches, perform theatrical interpretations of ancient legends, and discover how traditional stories and folk arts continue to inspire modern imagination in our museum's interactive galleries. Our creative explorers will bridge past and present by bringing myths to life through traditional crafts, painting, sculpture, costume-making, and storytelling, culminating in a showcase where families can experience the mystical worlds their young artists have crafted using both ancient and modern creative techniques.

"Abstract Adventures” - Where bold colors dance, shapes sing, and creativity knows no bounds.
This dynamic week of camp invites young artists to explore the boundless world of abstract expression, where traditional rules fade away and creative freedom takes center stage. Campers will discover how emotions can be translated into bold colors, how music can inspire spontaneous shapes, and how everyday objects can transform into extraordinary abstract compositions. Through movement and theatrical exercises, they'll bring their abstract creations to life. The week seamlessly blends visual arts with performance, as campers explore how abstract concepts can be expressed not just on canvas, but through voice, movement, and dramatic interpretation – turning the studio into a stage where shapes dance and colors sing.
